Operational Excellence, Delivered with Grace.
Iron & Grace was founded on a simple belief — that organizations ready to grow with intention and integrity deserve embedded senior leadership, not consulting reports delivered from a distance.
True excellence is found in the daily practice of intentional leadership, operational clarity, and the quiet work of human-centered growth.
— The Iron & Grace Approach
Clarity of Purpose
We cut through complexity to identify what truly drives your organization forward — creating systems that sustain growth without sacrificing the culture that got you here.
Intentional Leadership
Every decision is made with deliberate care — for your team, your stakeholders, and the long-term health of your business. Urgency without thoughtfulness is just noise.
Human-Centered Growth
People are never a resource to be optimized. They are the foundation from which enduring organizations are built — and the measure of whether the work was worth doing.
Fractional Services

Operations and people.
Rarely found in one seat.
Most fractional leaders come from one world — either ops or HR. The ability to hold both simultaneously is what allows us to solve problems at their root, not just their symptoms. When your systems and your people are aligned, everything moves.
Leadership Development
Regardless of which role we step into, developing the leaders around us is always part of the work. We don't create dependency — we build internal capability.
Which role is right for you?
Select the challenge that sounds most like your organization right now.
Not sure where to start? Let's have a conversation.
Schedule a Discovery CallFrom first call to
residency.
Every engagement follows a consistent process.
The first three weeks are about earning the right to be in the seat — listening, diagnosing, and designing an engagement with no ambiguity. The following six months are where the real transformation happens, built to last long after we leave.
Discovery Call
A candid conversation — not a sales pitch. We listen first, understand your challenges, and determine whether there's a genuine fit before anything else.
No pressure. No proposal before we've earned it.
Diagnostic & Alignment
We assess your operational landscape, leadership dynamics, and key friction points. Stakeholder interviews, honest review — nothing sanitized.
The full picture before a single recommendation is made.
Engagement Design
Together we define the role, success metrics, operating cadence, and boundaries for the full six-month residency. Nothing ambiguous, nothing left to assumption.
A clear agreement that sets both parties up to win.
Stabilization & Clarity
The IronThe first 90 days remove immediate friction and bring radical transparency to your operations — systems, rhythms, and accountability structures put in place so your team can execute with confidence.
Structure before strategy. Order before optimization.
Foundation
Deep-dive diagnostic, stakeholder alignment, and "Seat at the Table" integration.
Execution
Execution of the 90-day roadmap and stabilization of primary workflows.
Rhythm
Implementation of the "Rhythm of Business" — meeting cadences and KPI tracking.
Optimization & Ownership
The GraceThe second 90 days refine the systems built in Q1 and mentor your leaders to run them autonomously — until the work outlasts the engagement and your team owns the outcome entirely.
A clean handoff, not a dependency.
Optimization
High-level process optimization and organizational health audits.
Coaching
Direct leadership coaching and GWC alignment for department heads.
Transition
Final system stress-testing and the handoff to a sustainable, autonomous future.
A minimum of six months — by design.
The systems we build take time to stabilize. The culture shifts we drive take time to take hold. Six months is not a contract constraint — it is the necessary container for the Iron and the Grace to actually work.
Deep Experience. Steady Leadership.
Behind every engagement is a person who has sat in the seat — who knows what it costs to build something real, and what it takes to make it last.
Sincere Leadership
We prioritize your long-term health over a "quick win." By positioning ourselves as a dedicated peer to the Visionary rather than just another vendor, we ensure our work is grounded in your specific values and goals.
Operational Clarity
We remove the friction that stalls growth. By mapping out a clear arc from the start, we answer the difficult questions early — building a bridge of trust before the heavy lifting even begins.
Sustainable Excellence
A Residency isn't a temporary fix; it's an embedded partnership. We build internal capability so that when our engagement ends, the transformation remains. Lasting change, not dependency.

Tara Conover
Founder & Managing Partner
Tara Conover
Tara founded Iron & Grace Partners on the conviction that most scaling organizations don't need more strategy — they need someone who can make the existing strategy actually work. Drawing on two decades of executive operations experience across high-growth tech ventures, professional services, and mission-driven organizations, she built Iron & Grace to fill the persistent gap between vision and sustainable execution.
As Founder & Managing Partner, she takes a direct, embedded approach to every engagement — stepping into the operating seat alongside leadership teams and staying until the systems, rhythms, and culture can carry themselves. Her work is grounded in a sincere belief that when people feel clear on the vision and supported in execution, organizations don't just perform better — they become genuinely excellent.
Our Partnership Network
Selectively Expanding
Iron & Grace is built
to grow with intention.
We are selectively expanding our network of senior partners — experienced operators and people leaders who share our philosophy and are ready to step into embedded, high-trust engagements.
We don't add partners to add capacity. We add partners because the right person, in the right seat, with the right values, changes everything for a client organization. If that sounds like you, we'd welcome a candid conversation.
The questions
worth asking.
These are the questions we hear most often before a Discovery Call. If yours isn't here, ask it directly — candid conversations are where we do our best work.
Ask a different questionA consultant delivers recommendations and leaves. A Fractional COO steps into the seat and does the work alongside your team — attending leadership meetings, owning the operational roadmap, and being accountable for outcomes, not just observations. The distinction matters because advice without execution rarely moves an organization forward.
Most fractional or consulting work is scoped around a deliverable — a report, a plan, a workshop. A residency is scoped around transformation. The first 90 days stabilize your operations and build trust. The second 90 days refine the systems and transfer ownership to your team. That arc takes time, and we don't cut it short.
We work best with organizations in the 15–200 person range — past the startup phase, but not yet at the scale that requires a full C-suite. Typically, this means companies generating $3M–$50M in revenue where the founder or CEO is still carrying operational weight they shouldn't have to.
It looks like us being in your leadership meetings, reviewing your KPIs, making decisions alongside your team, and holding accountability structures that stick. The cadence is agreed upon during the Engagement Design phase, but in practice it means we are a genuine presence in your organization — not a periodic check-in.
Intentionally few. The embedded model only works when we can give each client organization the full weight of our attention. We limit active residencies to ensure that every client gets a committed, present partner — not someone stretched thin across a dozen retainers.
The honest answer: if you're asking that question, you probably are. The organizations that benefit most are those where the CEO knows something is off — execution is lagging, the team is misaligned, or growth is creating more chaos than opportunity. The Discovery Call exists precisely to answer this question together, without pressure.
Let's talk about
what's possible.
The first conversation is always candid — no pitch, no proposal. Just an honest look at where your organization is and whether a Partnership Residency is the right fit.
